Summer Trends 2015: Watercolour Art
This summer trend is very, very summery with bright, colourful florals showing off all over the design. This is one of our favourite looks for this years interior design trends for Summer 2015. Watercolours meet bright jewel colours and soft pastels but above all they look focuses on florals with a nod towards colourful animals as well. The look is popularly introduced through soft furnishings, art pieces and changeable accessories. You can use a more abstract look or can use watercolours that paint a picture with vivid detail.

Bright Vs Pastel

You can make a very bold statement this summer with bright watercolours or you can create a subtle and calming look with light pastels. Bright colours lend themselves well to energetic rooms like living rooms and kitchens, while pastels work well in bedrooms and offices to bring about calm. Really colourful watercolours can be used for a great focal point when used on a large piece of furniture or artwork but complement them with equally colourful paint in the room. Jewel colours are very popular for this look and make a room appear rich and full of life. Pastel watercolours can be used more effectively throughout the full room with hints to it through wall decals, accessories and ombre effects on larger pieces.

Abstract Vs Detailed

While Floral images are the over arching theme for this look you can tell your own colour story with a detailed look or offer it up to our imagination with abstract pieces. In the detailed look, flowers have been spotted everywhere on every possible piece of artwork, accessories and wall but you don’t just have to stick to plants. Animals and landscapes are a great way of creating a cohesive look with a story. Think of it as making your room a picture book. The abstract look is exactly what it says on the tin. You can use splashes of colour or you can hint at an image. Florals are part of the look once again with the blurs of paint resembling fields of flowers or bouquets in home. The ombre effect we mentioned as looking good with pastels would be a great abstract way to bring the trend into your home as well.
