We don't always find the time to take care of ourselves properly and can sometimes find it hard to have some quality alone time with our loved ones. So today we challenge you to transform your bedroom in to a romantic sanctuary that creates the perfect place to relax and unwind.
Lighting is key for all rooms and it is incredibly important in a bedroom to provide a tranquil and cosy look to get you in the right mood to relax. Go for several lamps around the room with low wattage and create a subdued look. Mood lighting after all should flatter and the darker lighting gets your mind ready for bed. Having lamps on a bedside cabinet or even on the wall next to or above the bed means you can unwind in the comfort of the duvet and go straight to sleep without getting up to turn the main light off.
You can't do anything if your are too hot or too cold, never mind relaxing in bed. Make sure you have the right temperature for you and your partner. If it's too chilly, put the heating on or get an extra heater for your bedroom, create a canopy for your bed (Super romantic and keeps warm air in) or add extra blankets to snuggle up in. If it's too hot, swap your duvet for a lighter one, open the windows and make sure you have water on hand to cool you down.
Nothing is better then a wonderful fragrance filling the room to take your mind off the stresses of the day. Choose relaxing scents like lavender, hyacinth and pine or use uplifting scents like cinnamon, citrus or peppermint. Surprisingly, pumpkin scent is also an aphrodisiac so why not try an incense stick or two to improve your mood.
We're not talking whale music but any music or soundscapes that make your mind calm will help to create a peaceful atmosphere. We love this playlist on Spotify, Lost in the Woods. For music without lyrics try nature sounds or Tibetan bells to transport you to another world and forget any worries that may be on your mind.
A place for everything and everything in it's place. You can't relax when there is a mound of clothes on the bedroom floor and clutter along the surfaces. Make sure you keep your bedroom a clean and tidy sanctuary. Invest in some great storage so that there is space for everything you need without it taking over your room. Having a clean bedroom will ease you into sleep as a tidy room will create a tidy mind. We love the Thera Bedroom Collection in dark but we also stock it in White, two tone and oak.
Take the time to really pamper yourself and keep your bedroom the one place that the mess and stress of the day does not enter. If you have a paradise of a bedroom you are also more likely to get better shut eye too. Something we all need these days.
